Under BUCS basketball regulations, players and coaches must hold a valid licence issued via the relevant NGB. Before each match, teams must present licences of everyone who will participate. In Premier Tier and National Championship matches, a missing valid licence can mean that person cannot take part. In other fixtures, participation may still be noted with later sanctions if licensing was not in place.
That is why a photo in a group chat is not a system. Coaches need a living list of who is licensed, whose expiry is close, and who is on tonight’s sheet.

A practical matchday habit
- Check licences the day before, not in warm up
- Treat coaches on the bench the same as players
- Keep one list that matches who will actually tip
How Run5 helps: licence number and expiry on profiles, a licences dashboard with reminders, and match sheet tools so eligibility is part of roster ops.
