Privacy Policy
In short
Run5 is the basketball club app for coaches and players — university, local league, and tournament teams. We collect account, team, activity, and payment-related information so the product works. We do not sell your personal data. Team members and coaches on your team can see content shared in that team. You can update your profile or delete your account in Settings. Questions: support@run5basketball.com.
This Privacy Policy explains how Run5 (“Run5”, “we”, “us”) processes personal information when you use the Run5 mobile app and related websites (together, the “Service”). We process personal data in line with applicable law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 where they apply.
By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge this Policy. Our Terms of Use also apply.
1. Who is responsible
For personal data processed to operate Run5 as a platform, Run5 is the data controller. Contact: support@run5basketball.com.
Team coaches and administrators decide what roster and team content to add. Where a coach uploads player details or invites people to a team, they must have a lawful basis to do so under their own responsibilities (for example parental consent for minors).
2. Information we collect
Account and profile
Name, email address, authentication identifiers (including from Sign in with Apple or Google where you choose those methods), optional phone number, profile photo, and a user ID we create for your account.
Team and roster
Team name, branding, venue, season details, roster fields (such as position and jersey number), coach notes held for staff only, awards, season goals, and similar team content that coaches or players add.
Activity in the Service
Events and RSVPs, chat messages, playbook uploads (files or links), payment requests, payment claims and confirmations, notifications, and device push tokens used to deliver alerts you allow.
Payments
Season fee amounts, payment status, payment request amounts, and bank transfer instructions entered by coaches. If card or Apple Pay is enabled, Stripe processes the payment. We do not store full card numbers on Run5 servers. Stripe acts as an independent controller for card data under its own privacy notice: https://stripe.com/privacy.
Players pay the amount advertised by the team. Run5 does not add a surcharge. For digital payments, Run5 deducts a platform fee of 2.4% + 20p (capped at £3.00) from the team’s Stripe payout. Bank transfers arranged by the team do not include this fee. How that fee is charged is described in our Terms of Use.
Technical and security data
Device type, app version, approximate diagnostics needed for reliability and security (including App Check / device integrity signals), and log data related to errors or abuse prevention. We do not use this to sell advertising profiles.
Information from others
A coach may add basic player details and send an invite before you create an account. Guardians may provide information when registering a young player. That sharing is the responsibility of the person who uploads it.
3. How we use information
- Provide the Service (contract) — accounts, teams, roster, events, chat, playbook, payments, and support.
- Communicate with you (contract / legitimate interests) — service messages, payment reminders, and replies to support requests.
- Security and abuse prevention (legitimate interests / legal obligation) — authentication, App Check, fraud and misuse detection.
- Improve the product (legitimate interests) — aggregated or de-identified analytics about feature use and reliability.
- Legal compliance (legal obligation) — records we must keep, or responses to lawful requests.
Where we rely on consent (for example certain optional notifications or marketing, if offered), you can withdraw it in Settings or by contacting us.
4. How we share information
We share personal data only as needed to run the Service:
- Your team — coaches and teammates can see roster, events, chat, and other content shared in that team, according to roles and settings.
- Service providers — including Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, messaging, cloud functions, App Check) and Stripe (card and Apple Pay payments). They process data under contracts and their own policies where they are controllers.
- Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or the Service.
We do not sell personal information.
Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA (for example in the United States). Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
5. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above and for legal duties. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise account data we control. Team records kept by a coach (for example historical payments) may remain for the team’s records. If a team owner deletes the team, team data is removed as described in the product.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability. You can update much of your profile in the app. To exercise other rights, email support@run5basketball.com. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
7. Children
Run5 is intended for team organisers and players. You must be at least 13 to create an account. If a team includes players under 18, coaches should only add their information with appropriate parental or guardian consent for their jurisdiction. Coach-only notes about players are not shown on player-facing profiles.
8. Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the Service, including authentication, access controls, encrypted transit (HTTPS), and App Check on sensitive server actions. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change, and we will post the new version at this URL. Material changes may also be highlighted in the app where practical.
