Safeguarding requirements for coaches and volunteers

Licensing, DBS eligibility and safeguarding certificates are role based. Clubs need to know who works with children and who does not.

Basketball England sets safeguarding requirements for people licensing to work or volunteer in basketball, with additional expectations for roles working with children. Some club roles may need enhanced checks; others may not qualify for the same check even if they handle admin. New coaches are directed to introductory safeguarding training pathways.

Run5 is not a safeguarding training provider. It is where the people list lives so welfare officers and head coaches are not guessing from memory.

How Run5 helps: a clear roster and staff tools reduce informal access. Pair that with your club’s official safeguarding process and training.
