From paper folder to one basketball app

A clear path for UK basketball teams moving off printouts and chat chaos into Run5, without pausing fixtures or chasing the roster again.

Most basketball programs do not wake up digital. They inherit a folder: printed rosters, handwritten scores, fee notes in a thread, licence scans in email. The move to an app fails when it asks coaches to pause the season for a migration project.

Run5 is designed for the opposite: start with the next practice, not a six week IT plan.

Step one: create the team and invite the roster

Set name, colours and crest. Invite with a code or share link so players complete their own profiles. Staff roles and assistants can join as the program grows. You stop retyping jersey numbers from last year’s PDF.

Step two: post fixtures and collect RSVPs

Games and training sit on a shared calendar. Players answer Yes, Maybe or No, with late, limited and injured options. Coaches see the attendee list and squad size warnings before tip, not after the warm up.

Step three: put fees where everyone can see them

Season fees, bank details and unique references replace “who paid?” arguments. Players claim payments. Coaches confirm or reject. Reminders and extra requests for kit or trips stay in the same system.

How Run5 solves it: the handoff is operational, not theoretical. Create team, invite roster, post game, open Live Game Stats. The folder becomes backup, not the operating system.

Step four: score live and keep the season alive

Paper scoresheets end the story at the final whistle. Run5 continues it: box score, period scores, season leaderboards and form. The next coach or committee inherits history instead of starting from blank cells.
